Episode 614 Daniel Carcillo is a First Class Father and 2x Stanley Cup Champion. He played ten years in the National Hockey League winning the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013 and 2015. His on-ice reputation as an enforcer has led to him being nicknamed "Car Bomb". Today Daniel is an advocate for survivors of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and he is at the forefront of mental health care innovation, pioneering novel new therapies for the debilitating condition that took him out of the game. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wesana Health, a data-driven life science company revolutionizing drug development and clinical therapies utilizing psychedelic medicine for mental health care. Thanks to psychedelic-assisted therapy, Daniel is more than just a survivor of TBI–– he’s a success story, with a clean brain scan showing the progress he has made in his recovery from post-concussive syndrome. And through Wesana, he’s helping other TBI victims and those suffering from PTSD or depression experience the potential benefits of psilocybin, too. In this Episode, Daniel shares his Fatherhood journey which includes three children. He discusses the severity of concussions in sports and why he founded Wesana Health. He describes his feelings about young kids playing contact sports and what is a good age to start. He tells us whether or not he would do it all over again if he knew then what he knows now. He offers some great advice for new or about to be Dads and more!
