There is an attack, in my opinion, on Fatherhood and Family through our pop culture. The way Dads are portrayed in the Movies, on TV and in the Media is not an accurate account of Fatherhood today. As a proud father of four children I decided to respond by setting the record straight and giving voices to fathers all over the country and the world by launching a podcast called First Class Fatherhood.
The Results? In eleven months I have recorded 149 episodes interviewing Fathers from every walk of life including NFL Hall of Famers Deion Sanders & Kurt Warner; Navy SEALS Rob O’Neill & Marcus Luttrell; Actors Dean Cain & Max Martini; Entrepreneurs Ed Mylett & Bedros Keuilian; and so many other inspiring men. I was also present for Media Day in Atlanta for Super Bowl 53 interviewing Tom Brady, Julian Edleman, Bill Belichick and others to capture their thoughts on fatherhood. I have opened this platform to all Dads to gain the perspective and unique experiences of Single Dads, Divorced Dads, Widowed Dads, Gay Dads, White Dads, Black Dads, Muslim Dads, Dads who have buried their child, Christian Dads, Jewish Dads, Democrat Dads, Republican Dads and everyone in between. As fathers we have so much more in common then we ever knew.
There is a fatherless problem facing this country right now and the narrative of what being a Dad is all about needs to change. New and about-to-be-fathers need to hear these fatherhood experiences to erase to false stigmas and stereotypes they have come to accept.
I would love to spread the message about my podcast, which has hit #1 on iTunes several times in the Kids & Family category, to every Dad. I firmly believe that if we can strengthen our family values, nourish our family units and celebrate fatherhood and family life, most of the problems we are facing in our country would disappear.
